Beauty and Makeup Made Easy

There is more to beauty and makeup than slapping on the war paint. Even when you are busy there are some simple rules you should follow when applying your cosmetics. Here are some must-have, free beauty tips that no woman should be without.

Like fine art, good makeup application begins with a clean canvas, so do not forget about facial skin care products. After cleansing your face, apply a good moisturizer and allow it to soak in. This will keep your foundation on top of the skin. The next step is to apply concealer and foundation to hide any dark circles and discoloration. Foundation should match your skin tone perfectly, so use great care when choosing your shade. Test the color just under the jaw line instead of on your cheek or hand. This will immediately let you know if it will be invisible on the face. If your skin is oily, then opt for an oil free or water-based foundation. Dry skin works best with a liquid foundation or rich cream. Always make sure that your foundation is well blended to avoid looking like you are wearing a mask.

With regard to beauty and makeup, after you have applied and blended your foundation, set it with loose powder. Choose a lightweight powder that will absorb into your skin instead of just sitting on top. This will help your makeup last all day. Use a large makeup brush and apply in a circular motion. Like your foundation, the color should match your skin tone perfectly. Use a light hand and dust off any excess powder. A matte finish will give your makeup a dated look.

Less is more when it comes to health beauty tips. Only apply powder or cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. Blend the blush in so that the color looks natural. If you make a mistake, then just moisten a sponge and gently dab your cheeks until you get the color you want. The lipstick you choose should match the tone of your skin, hair and eyes. Most women opt for softer colors during the day and darker shades in the evening. The same goes for your eye shadow. To give your eyes some extra pop, apply a shimmering highlighter just beneath the eyebrow and apply a thick, even coat of mascara to your lashes.

Now that you know the beauty and makeup basics, you can get creative with color. Blend trendy shades of eye shadow and liner for a smoky look worthy of a dark red silk scarf. Or, pick up a striking shade of lipstick that you never thought you would wear. The key is to create a pulled together, polished look that highlights your best features. Got great eyes? Layer on the waterproof mascara! Got a sexy pout? Play it up with red lipstick. You will love the way your new look will make you feel.

If you want to splurge, then companies that make high end cosmetic lines will provide consultations by appointment. However, do not feel that you have to buy costly products, try to get a sample first to make sure it suits you and your skin. If you practice your technique and choose the right shades for your skin tone, then you will look flawless every time.

Natural Beauty Tips That Are Often Overlooked

Here are five of my favorite natural beauty tips. They might not be the same ones that other experts recommend, but they are my favorites, just the same. Let’s get started.

1. Don’t wear mascara too often and don’t use too much.

Mascara is not good for the eyelashes. Your eyelashes will be longer and thicker naturally if you don’t wear it too often. Save it for special occasions.

When you do wear it, don’t use too much. Nothing looks worse than a woman with clumps of mascara between her eyelashes. The brand that you buy makes a difference, as does the color.

If you are a brunette, choose a brown shade. If you are a blond, choose the lightest brown you can find. The only women that should use black mascara are those that have black hair and those that are performing on theatrical stages.

Non-waterproof is best, because waterproof is difficult to remove. The harsh cleansers necessary to remove it can cause irritation. You want to avoid irritating skincare products, because they are damaging to your appearance now and could be damaging in the future. Here’s the second of my favorite natural beauty tips.

2. Choose foundation containing natural pigments.

The best mixtures contain naturally occurring pigments, plant-based oils, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. The last two are the only sunscreens that I would recommend, because they are the only ones proven to be safe and effective.

3. Don’t use more than one scented hair or skincare product.

When you use three or four different products, all with different fragrances, they compete with each other. They can actually make you sick. If you feel depressed or tired for no reason, it could be the fragrance you are wearing.

Many fragrance ingredients are aromatic hydrocarbons, which are health hazards in the work environment. It stands to reason inhaling them all day because they are on your body would be hazardous to your health, too. If you are interested in natural beauty tips, you are probably interested in protecting your health, as well as your appearance.

4. Get a little sun, but not too much.

Many people are surprised by that tip. I am not suggesting that tanning is a good idea. You simply need a little sun, because the body needs it to produce vitamin D. If you don’t get vitamin D from the sun, you have to take a multi-vitamin.

The form of vitamin D found in most multi-vitamins is not the same as what you body produces. No one really knows if it can actually replace what your body produces.

Not only is getting a little sun one of my natural beauty tips. It is also good for your long-term health. Research indicates that low blood levels of vitamin D are associated with an increased risk of heart disease. Remember that too much sun is bad. It is also one of the causes of facial aging.

5. Use moisturizers containing plant-based oils and anti-aging nutrients.

After every bath or shower, use a moisturizer containing grape seed oil and nutrients like coenzyme Q10. Showering strips away the skin’s oils and leaves it defenseless to the causes of an aged appearance.

Healthy and Youthful Skin

• Large pores are a fairly common issue. Increased oil production (sebum), dead skin cells and other cellular debris getting in the way of the pores causes the pores to become clogged. They are more likely to stay enlarged as you age. Exfoliating regularly helps to clear the skin debris from clogged pores and smooth out your complexion. The appearance of pores can also be improved using products like Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector after cleansing.

• Cover up with a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least an SPF 30. If you are going to be out even for a short while and even if it’s cloudy outside, you just need to protect yourself from the damaging UV rays from the sun to avoid premature aging.

• Do not ditch your moisturizer as soon as you see a zit or two. You can switch to a light non-greasy formula to provide skin its daily dose of moisture. Moisturizer keeps your skin hydrated and protects it against damage from free radicals.
• Do not skip moisturizing (with sunscreen) your neck and hands daily. These body parts can reveal your actual age even if your face does not so take care!

• Slather on your body lotion right right after you come out of the shower when your skin is still damp and absorbs well.

• You already know smoking is not good for your health. Here’s another fact that should motivate you to quit – smoking destroys collagen and elastin. (these two are essential to keep your skin firm)

• Collagen and elastin can also be affected by excessive sugar intake. So it is a good idea to ignore your sweet tooth to avoid premature aging.

• Green vegetables (like broccoli, lettuce), almonds, walnuts and fish (mainly salmon) are rich in skin-essential nutrients (aka antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, omega-3) and thus keep your skin healthy.

• Squinting stretches the delicate skin around your eyes so make sure to wear sunglasses which also shields your skin from damaging UV rays from the sun.

• Break the habit of sipping through a straw if you want to avoid lines showing up around your mouth area. Resting your chin on your hand quite often also stretches the skin……avoid it.

• If you are sleeping daily on one side, the creases in cotton can eventually make their mark on your face. Try sleeping on your back to avoid that and switch to a smooth satin pillowcase.

• Last but not the least, don’t skip blush. Just smile and use the heat of your fingers to dab color on the rounds of your cheeks to give your face a healthy glow.

Tips to Have Naturally Beautiful Hair

The hair of women is always an important thing that they would consider when they try to set their appearance. A lot of people have said that the hair of the women would be the crowning glory of her. There are actually a lot of things that you can do in order to make your hair beautiful and natural. If you want to know more about this, you should not miss the tips mentioned below.

First of all, you should consider the things that you are taking into the body. A lot of people, including the medical experts, have said that hair is the region which shows honestly your health. If you have a nutritious and balanced diet, the hair would be beautiful. On the contrary, the hair would become poor if you do not have a very good diet. Bad diets can always ruin the hair quality and this is a very important point for you to take into consideration. Almost 1/4 of the content of your hair would be made of water. Therefore, you have to drink more water. Some people do not understand why their hairs are dry. In fact, one of the obviously possible reasons is that they did not drink sufficient water. If they drink more water, it is likely that the hair would become bright again if they drink more water.

Secondly, you should pay attention to the details when you try to dry your hair. You should use the towel to carefully absorb the moisture of your hair. You would usually need around 10 minutes to do so in order to remove the moisture thoroughly. After that, you can remove the towel and then allow your hair to dry under the room temperature. If you want to use a blow dryer to help you dry the hair, it is fine as long as the dryer is not set at a very hot level. High heat could ruin your hair seriously.

You should also choose the right brush to brush your hair. Some of the brushes would have wider toothed combs while some would not. Therefore, you should pay attention to the choice. When your hairs are still wet, you are not advised to brush the hair. It is because this may break the hairs accidentally.

If you find some split ends in your hair, you have to remove these hairs. Removing the hairs can help you make sure that there would not be further damage. You can twist the sections of hair downward until the split ends are shown.

Last but not least, you should properly do your conditioning and shampooing. Gentle products would always be better than the strong products. If you have no idea about the strength of the shampoo and conditioners that you want, you can always choose those which are neutral at the beginning.

How To Avoid Depressed Skin

The skin is the mirror of your health. If you have mottled and depressed skin, it probably indicates poor inner health. An improvement in your inner health can do wonders to the appearance of your skin.

On the other hand, the skin also receives a lot of damages from external aging factors. You should encourage both external and internal healing of the skin to get radiant skin. Let me tell you how you can avoid dark and depressed skin.

1. Avoid eating foods you have intolerance for.
Many people eat foods without much thought about how those foods can affect their health. Some food groups that seem harmless enough might actually trigger the appearance of pigmentation problems such as dark circles under eyes. People who have oily skin should avoid ingesting too much food loaded with dairy ingredients.

Heavy intake of sugar, salt and alcohol can also lead to mottled skin complexion. Make sure you have healthy sugar levels to slow down the aging process. Limit your intake of foods rich in salt as salt encourages fluid retention. It makes your skin look bloated. This is also a skin condition shared by alcohol consumers. Alcohol even makes your skin look dull and old.

2. Be mindful of the existence of harmful free radicals
Free radicals exist in air pollutants. Our body can also produce free ranging radicals. When we are stressed out, our fat reserves undergo a chemical oxidation process that leads to the formation of free radicals. Free radicals attack cells. They also trigger the prevalence of numerous debilitating illnesses.

The best way to counteract this is to avoid stress. Also load up on foods rich in antioxidants such as citrus fruits, berries and green leafy vegetables. Chocolates and green tea also contain a hefty amount of antioxidants.

3. Keep your skin hydrated
A well-hydrated skin is not prone to premature wrinkle formation or dull skin countenance. You should drink lots of water to replenish lost fluid. Also use a moisturizer that can lock moisture in skin tissues.

Winter Beauty Tips

Winter weather is here and ready to mount an assault against your skin. Your skin has just survived a summer of chlorinated water, air-conditioned malls, and excessive sun exposure accumulated through outdoor activities. Now it must fight against harsh cold winds and blasts of warm dry air from indoor heaters.

Winters mission seems to be to make skin dry, irritated and chapped. Cold air will chap any exposed skin and low temperatures will slow down blood circulation in facial skin making it dull or pale. The dry heat of indoor heaters and dehumidifiers attack and steal moisture from the air, drying and irritating skin. The winter sun will also dry out skin, damaging the DNA which will lead to premature aging. Combat nature’s forces by moisturizing with creams and lotions. Add moisture to the air by using a humidifier. Also, try not to linger in warm baths and showers because hot water removes natural body oils that help to protect skin.

Proper sun protection is extremely important in the winter, too. One of the things to do to keep skin beautiful and healthy during the winter is to protect it against UV radiation. Just because it is winter, it does not mean sun protection should be forgotten. UVB has lessened but UVA is still in full force all day long! And don’t be fooled, cold temperatures have nothing to do with the amount of UV radiation you will receive. It is just as easy to sunburn in the winter as in the summer. Clear or cloudy, skin is continually exposed to UV radiation. The sun’s reflective rays are strong all year long too, 17% on the sand and up to 80% on the snow! It is important to use a moisturizing broad spectrum sunscreen that has a SPF of 15 or higher. Apply it to the exposed areas that get the brunt of winter’s force: the face, neck and hands. It will also create a barrier against the harsh elements. Natural, non-chemical sunscreens, a “green” alternative to chemical sunscreens is good for both your health and our water supply.

Hands are exposed to both cold and warm air, as well as frequent hand washing to ward off winter germs. The result; hands will become chapped and dry. Wear gloves outside to protect against cold dry air and for added moisture, apply lotion to your hands before you slip them on. Give hands an intense moisturizing treatment at night by applying a heavy cream or lotion and then keep the gloves on until morning. For weather that does not warrant woolen gloves, sun gloves should be worn to prevent cumulative UV damage.

Lips are extremely sensitive to winter’s wrath. Besides being constantly exposed to the elements, the skin on lips is thin and doesn’t produce as much UV protective melanin as other parts of the body. Be sure and use a lip balm that protects against UVA and UVB radiation. And, be sure and keep it handy because you will want to reapply it often.

Winter may be here, but with proper care and protection your skin can survive and be ready for the next battle: summer!

Summer Beauty

The kids are out of school, next week is Fourth of July and I feel like last week was a glorious Memorial Day weekend…

So lets talk summer beauty.

I just turned 37 this year and I have received some interesting compliments in the past few months. People that just meet me, find out how old I am and want to know my secret! LOL

So besides having the experience of being a studio makeup artist for almost ten years (using lots of tips on myself that I found valuable from set,) and working in aesthetics and the beauty field every day… I do have a few secrets up my sleeve. One of my first makeup mentors told me – NEVER keep your tricks to yourself – always share with others… you’re never that good! And when you share, it will always come back to you.

So here you go… very simple “Keeping your Youth” tips for the summer and every day.

1. SUN Limit your sun exposure (especially during peak hours). I have wholeheartedly embraced the porcelain skin is beautiful concept. I am Irish & Swedish – say no more… Because I have limited my sun exposure for at least the past ten years and wear sunscreen on my chest, neck and face every day without fail – I think I have postponed some spotting and wrinkles.

– Using a sunscreen with ZINC and TITANIUM DIOXIDE is best – they are the strongest.

2. SKINCARE At a minimum after you turn 30 years old, you need to re-evaluate your skincare. You need something more active for your skin than you did in your 20s. In your 40s & 50s you need something more active than in your 30s. I love the peptides and enzymes. Natural is great but you do need to check for an active ingredient. Vitamin C is quickly becoming a favorite of mine for clients as well as a minimally active Retinol. Exfoliation is the key and treatment for renewal at NIGHT (this is when your skin replenishes itself and rejuvenates).

3. A good ATTITUDE. I have always tried to be a positive person. We are in trying times… Your attitude does make a difference on your appearance and your wrinkles. SMILE at one person a day… Always try to make lemonade from lemons and see the glass half full… try counting one blessing a day – and you will be surprised at how many days it takes for you to run out of things to be thankful for.

4. Nutrition and HEALTH. Simple I know, but very easily overlooked in our busy every day stresses and schedules. I recently lost 15 pounds since the beginning of the year. I started eating! My schedule is so busy sometimes, I was not making time to eat. My metabolism slowed down and I started adding weight. By adding something each day for breakfast, vitamins and oil capsule supplements – small meals and snacks throughout the day, I noticed a difference in my skin, hair and body. I also started hula hooping for a 1/2 hour in front of the TV every other night. I do not enjoy the gym and am usually tired after a long day, so this was manageable. Start with small goals – but make a CHANGE – YOU are worth it.Your skin reflects what is happening inside.

5. MAKEUP For the summer I like to keep it simple. I LOVE tinted moisturizer over my normal skincare. If I have a special event, I use a light foundation or mineral foundation. My skin tends to be dry so I mist the minerals with toner or water after application to elevate the matte/pasty look. I use Cover Girl LASH BLAST, which I swear by for mascara – waterproof only if I am planning on swimming or crying (not everyday). I use like sparkly tones all over my lids with a nice neutral brown or fun plum or green to accentuate my eyes.

For night or special events I will pop some deep plum or charcoal in the corner of my lower lid and slightly in the crease for drama. I use STYLI STYLE – line and seal eyeliner or wet a mineral eye shadow that will stay on all day long! Blush is light and blended and bronzer works well for some glow or color over my porcelain skin. I love to finish with tinted/toned chapstick or a lipgloss. In the summer, I feel less is more and I love to see my skin through the makeup… another reason to take care of your skin.

Follow Homemade Beauty Tips

Beautiful people of all ages have maintained that beauty is not as much reflected in the rosy, youthful look of the skin. When questioned about the secret to their beautiful skins, they have always attributed it to a healthy lifestyle and a few homemade beauty tips. Healthy lifestyle and homemade beauty tips are mostly based on the refreshing, detoxifying effects of natural and herbal products with the former fortifying the system’s internal strength and the later protecting outwardly.

Homemade beauty tips, as such, are based on judicial choice of herbal ingredients for external skin care. Some home-based natural skin care tips would be as follows:

o Buttermilk/cream and yogurt make excellent skin cleansers.

o After-bath application of almond oil is undoubtedly a great treat for the skin – the suppleness and glow it brings to the skin is unmatched by even the very best of moisturizers.

o Regular application of honey or yogurt makes the skin soft and has a gentle bleaching effect.

o Sea salt/sugar mixed with olive oil works as an extraordinary at-home body exfoliation preparation.

o Different natural and herbal products like Aloe Vera, Basil, Chamomile, Lavender, Marshmallow, Neem, Oatmeal, Sandalwood, Tea tree oil, Turmeric, Witch Hazel, etc. used as facial packs often help to dispose dead cells and impurities lodged in the skin to unclog pores. Side by side playing the roles of cleansers, the natural produces and elements strike water-oil balance of the skin.

If you find it too troublesome to go for natural skin treatments, the safest choice will be the TCA peels. The ready-to-be-used medically approved TCA peels have an answer for almost all skin problems – right from acnes to wrinkles and skin pigmentations to dryness. With long lasting effects, TCA peels give back the skin its natural healthfulness. With no harmful side effects (nearing the gentleness of homemade beauty tips), TCA peels can be safely used for teen-age skin problems.

Two is undoubtedly ‘company’ but three is not always ‘crowd’. TCA peels, balanced diets and a few homemade beauty tips make enviable company when it comes to revitalizing the skin. Therefore, surrender to the cares of the threesome and be the proud possessor of a youthful skin and look!

Beauty Tips

If truth be told, excessive hair growth on the face and extremities is niggling at times. Perceiving some of the hairs penetrate your T-shirts and jackets is more weird and disgusting. Well, technology is so advanced to offer a multiplicity of options from temporary hair removal to permanent hair removal.

Laser hair removal and electrolysis is the newest method to treat unwanted hair. These techniques are quite hassle-free and the course of action would not precede more than a day. Electrolysis utilizes an uncontaminated needle that is popped into every hair follicle. A minute electrical current is later distributed to the bottom of the follicle to demolish the hair augmentation cells.

Electrolysis is to be accomplished with much care and the result is a glowing hair-free skin. Diode laser hair removal is yet another hair-removal technique, widespread these days with much applause. There is totally no pain, and this way of hair removal can be carried out in a beauty salon also.

On the other hand, many people prefer temporary hair removal, as it is less expensive. Other than that, electrolysis and laser hair removal comes under the treatment mode. You can satisfy yourself by waxing your arms and legs to attend a party. Shaving and tweezing can also be done if you are ready to bear some pain.

A number of people make use of depilatory creams to dispose of unnecessary body hair. This manner is painless however not an enduring way out for unwanted hair. Experts also recommend not using such creams as they can damage the skin even leading to serious skin diseases.

Considering permanent hair removal methods is quite practical, if you are ready to spend a large amount. Though the laser treatment takes minimum time, follow-up sessions before and after the treatment can be toilsome.
